Patch Notes

We have released a client patch today, on, Tuesday, September 3rd CDT, that contains the following changes:

2D clients only

  • Some animation/drawing issues with mounts and their riders have been fixed.
  • A bug with some critters, including nightmares, leaving bits of "artifact images" on the screen as they move has been fixed.

3D clients only

  • The 3D client was not animating people riding ridgebacks properly. This has been fixed.
  • Wisps now leave a visible corpse in the 3D client when killed.
  • The altitude of speech text over many monsters was increased to be over their heads.
  • A random sound-bug related to missiles (most obvious when using Scrolls of Power) has been fixed.

Both 2D and 3D clients

  • Support for new Event-related content added.
  • Both clients now have a Stat Lock interface on the largest of the status bar interfaces. (NOTE - this will only be active on shards that have received the first Event 5 publish, which will not happen until at least next week.)
  • An "update range system" has been enabled.*
  • A "crasher" issue related to stacked objects was fixed.

The current version will become 3.0.8o for both the 2D and 3D clients.

* Special note about the "Update Range System": This new feature allows players the option to contract or expand the range at which their client collects and displays visible game-world activity. The range can remain at the full level and players will see other characters, creatures, and items within the world as normal. The update area can also be contracted closer to your character. Static objects (such as trees) outside that range will appear greyed out and dynamic objects such as creatures will simply not show up at all. Players with slow connections may find the ability to contract their update range especially useful in high-population areas.

If you have any difficulty receiving this patch, please check the following:

  • Check the "Patch" directory within your Ultima Online directory (the default location is C:\\Program Files\Ultima Online\Patch). This directory should be empty. Any files in this directory should be deleted.
  • If you are unable to connect to the patch server at all, and are using an original (Non-T2A) version of Ultima Online, you may need to update your verinfo file. For details on updating this file, please see the information posted at http://support.uo.com/tech_6.html.
  • Run a virus scan on your computer. Undetected viruses may cause conflicts with patching Ultima Online. For information on up-to-date virus detection software, please visit http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/vso/default.asp.

If after trying the above, you are still experiencing difficulty patching the Ultima Online client, visit this web page.
