Item Sets

Revision as of 06:55, 6 August 2008 by Broomy (Talk | contribs) (Major chage to sub headings and formating and inclusion of all Sets and the parts of the sets. also not on when happens when you out on a whole set.)

The idea of an Item Set is that 2 or more items, together, have properties that are greater than simply the sum of their parts.

There are several item sets available in Ultima Online. Most of these were added in the Mondain's Legacy expansion.

Indeed, the concept of an Item Set was alien to UO until that expansion.

When you Equip a complete Item Set it will change Color and you will receive a message The magic of your armor combines to assist you!

Of the Item Sets listed here, all but one is associated in some way with that expansion. The exception is the Virtue Armor. With that exception, every piece listed below comes from a named monster in a Mondain's Legacy dungeon. However, they no longer come EXCLUSIVELY from those dungeons, but are now also found in Doom and from Champs at Champion Spawns.

Typically, Armor Sets have some pieces that are available from "normal" named ML monsters (such as Swoop, and some pieces that are considered "rare" and are available only from the Peerless monsters, or from the boss monsters in the dungeon Doom, or from the boss monsters at Champion Spawns. During the Mad Mage/Blackrock Detector event, these items also appeared on the corpses of the ethereal forms of the Shadowlords.

The 2 weapon sets listed below, the Juggernaut Set and the Marksman Item Set, are found only from Peerlesses, or from Doom, or from the Shadowlords in the Mad Mage event.

It is possible to debate if the Blackrock Detector Event Set is truly an Item Set at all, but it is listed because it may well be a proper set at some point in the future, and because the 2 items (Planesword and Planeshield) are often used together.

Common & Rare Pieces

  • Each piece of a set spawns at a different rate. There are common pieces and uncommon pieces for each Set. Prior to the upgrade to Swoop, reports indicate the odds for finding a Set Item was 1/300. As for assembling a Set on your own, the world may never know.
  • It's been alleged that some pieces are associated with particular monsters (other than the Monstrous Interred Grizzle Set); any information on this aspect of Item Sets would be appreciated.
  • The table below of select Item Sets indicates the relative supply of the individual pieces.

Set Name Common Pieces Rare Pieces
Hunter's Garb legs, gloves Helmet, sleeves
Death's Essence tunic, legs, gloves helmet, arms
Elven Leafweave Legs, Gloves Tunic, Arms

  • With the exception of the Blackrock Detector set, all of the pieces in the weapon sets mentioned above are considered "rare."
