As a way to reward loyal UO subscribers, Veteran Rewards were introduced in late 2001. Each year an account is active, credits are given which can be used to select rewards. In the beginning, there were only rewards for accounts up to 3 years old. After several years, this was incrementally expanded all the way up to 14 year old accounts. Rewards may be traded and sold, but only accounts old enough can wear and use them some of them. All Veteran Rewards are Blessed and display their year of eligibility.

Determining Eligibility

Account age is determined by how many months it has been paid for.

  • Any account created before November 30, 1999 will automatically be credited for all of the time from the date it was created until November 30, 1999. In other words, if you created your account on October 30, 1998, your account would be credited for 13 months of time, regardless of whether your account was inactive during part of that time.
  • Following November 30, 1999, only the months in which you had an active account will contribute to the total count of months qualifying you for rewards.
  • You can check your account age by opening the Profile on any character on the account. The age in months will be displayed at the bottom and also appear as a system message. Other players cannot see your account age.

Claiming

The main menu

Once an account is old enough and has available selections, a menu screen will appear on each login informing the player that reward items are available. The player can cancel out and wait until next login to claim one, or press OK to be presented with the selection screen.

The main screen will present you with 6 different sections of rewards. It will also display the total number you can claim and how many have already been picked. To proceed, press the arrow next to the section you wish to view. A list of eligible selections will be shown. If you don't see the one you want, press the main menu arrow to return to the index. If you have decided on a reward, press the green arrow next to it. A selection confirmation screen will appear with the name of your selection and the assigned character. Press OK to confirm or Cancel to exit.

Notes

  • If you are eligible for a reward, make sure the UOAssist option to auto-cancel veteran rewards is not checked.
  • If you are eligible for a reward and the menu does not appear, the veteran reward server is probably down. Try again later.
  • Only rewards you are eligible to pick will be displayed in the menu.
  • Picking a reward on one character uses up that choice for the entire account.
  • Veteran rewards can only be transferred between shards via paid Character Transfer.
  • Although rewards are assigned to a specific character, they can be freely transferred between characters/accounts, bought, and sold. (However the Red Soulstone and the Shard Transfer Shields are account bound)
  • Players do not have to pick reward choices each year, they may elect to save their reward credits for later years when the rewards become increasingly more valuable.
  • A "Clothing Adjustment" box is located in the east building in the Lycaeum (in both Felucca and Trammel) that allows players to swap their already claimed reward clothing for another of a different type but of the same color.

At the end of the first 4 years, an account will receive +5 to every character's skill cap. After the 4th year this bonus is no longer given.

At the 6 month mark, an account receives a +5 stat cap bump for all characters. This does not apply to characters that got the +5 stat increase AOS Launch Gift.

  • Decorative Cannon - Place a cannon in your house which can be fired, causing a spectacular explosion.
  • Tree Stump - A stump from a cut-down tree, faces two directions, with and without an axe, and yields 10 random Logs a day.
  • Sheep Statue – This statue will give 10 pieces of a random hide or wool each day, holding up to a maximum of 100 pieces

8th Year Reward
