Pickpockets, brigands and thieves often prefer to live life in the shadows of Britannia, stealthily earning a living off the pockets and chests of others. A skilled thief can steal from monsters, chests, NPCs and other players. To steal from other players, one must join the [[Thieves Guild]].

== Joining the Thieves Guild ==
In order to steal from other players, a character must join the [[Thieves Guild]]. To do this, one must find a [[Thief Guild Master]], which are found in random locations in most towns. Once located, a character can join the guild by saying: "(NPC Name) join". If the character is at least 48 in-game hours old and has at least 60 Stealing skill, 500 gold pieces will be requested as payment to join. The payment must then be dragged onto them to complete the joining process. If the character has not met the skill and age requirements, they will be refused membership in the Thieves Guild until they meet the requirements. Being a member of the Thieves Guild also allows a player to buy and use a [[disguise kit]].

About 6 months before moving to Siege Perilous from Napa Valley, I purchased the 18x18 plot just outside the Minoc Stables. I've been lurking on Siege for about 8 months before I finally made the move. I had a town of thieves in mind from the start. This was a the perfect place. There was room for a central large house and surrounding smaller plots for other new members. With this location, we get the benefit of all the NPC services of Minoc including the stables and mines... which I eventually claimed for ourselves.

Founding the town was the hard part, but [http://uothief.com/misadventures/ep182.html it's not impossible.]

==Barter Town Mines==
These mines are now property of Barter Town. Their precious ores and metals are not to be taken under ANY circumstances and are off limits. Trespassing in our mines and mining our precious metals WILL result in the one of the following:

*Your rare gems WILL be appropriated from your backpack and distributed among the valiant Barter Town citizens.
*You WILL be killed and looted. Your body will then be placed in embarrassing positions.
*And you MIGHT also have a very pleasant conversation with a thief.

==Barter Town Pawn Shop==
A log cabin, soon to be stocked and sporadically re-stocked with various goods. From gems to jewels, from arties to scrolls. Very close to town guards. Shop without any risk of getting murdered. Buy [your] stolen goods [back] here.

The stables are still available for public use. You'll often find a thief or two stealing from a packy. Don't be alarmed.

This vendor house / museum (formerly named the "House of Furniture") has found itself in many different locations, but it's always been run by myself. It was established in 1998 as a small marble workshop in the fields of North Minoc. In 2003, it later moved to a 15x13 on the Crumbling Continent during the land rush of Malas. In 2004, I soon found and purchased a more suitable 18x18 plot just outside the West Gate of Luna and it stands there to this day.

Selling crafted armor, weapons, but mostly furniture, it was my main source of income from the start. I later gave that up after my crafter (Special SixtyNyn) was paged on for having an offensive name by another player. After all that, it only took a single person by the name of Lady Reba to be "extremely offended" by my name on a Sunday afternoon while vendor shopping. A crafter without the name & reputation they've built upon is no crafter at all. I gave up seriously maintaining the House of Furniture and that was the end of that... But maybe it was time to move on? Due to inflation and a lack of newer players, selling furniture has become more of a hobby than a serious source of income.

Today it now serves as a museum of treasures I've stolen and looted from other players. These treasures are the same that I've stolen through the years in "The Mis-adventures of Chad Sexington." Some of the treasures I sell (occassionally back to the player I stole it from) but many of them I keep and put on display. These treasures include power scrolls, weapons, armor, jewelry, books of truth, scrolls of alacrity, blackrock, talismen, 10th anniversary items, boats, tokuno major artifacts, and cursed & non-cursed artifacts.

The best part about this museum and the items inside are the stories behind each of the items -- captured in screenshot form.

The museum is still growing.

The vendors in the hooded robes on the outside of the house sell jewelry, weapons, and armor. I still sell furniture (for sentimental reasons) on the vendors indoors... but the rate in which I re-stock them is suspect. The 3rd floor has a public library which includes public rune books as well as player written books.

Pickpockets, brigands and thieves often prefer to live life in the shadows of Britannia, stealthily earning a living off the pockets and chests of others. A skilled thief can steal from monsters, chests, NPCs and other players.

You will need a pack animal ([[Pack Horse]], [[Pack Llama]], or [[Giant Beetle]]) and a stack of items. Any items will do such as [[Empty Bottle]]s, [[Wood]], [[Leather]], or [[Gold]]. Just as long as the stack weighs 12 stones or more. Stealing can only be trained on the [[Felucca]] facet. Make sure you tell the pack animal to guard you if you train inside the guard zone!

To train, place the specified weight of items on the pack animal and attempt to steal them. No matter whether you fail, succeed, or only steal part of the pile, take the remaining items and restack them. Pull out a new stack of the appropriate weight and put it on the pack animal. Steal again.

This vendor house / museum (formerly named the "House of Furniture") has found itself in many different locations, but it's always been run by myself. It was established in 1998 as a small marble workshop in the fields of North Minoc. In 2003, it later moved to a 15x13 on the Crumbling Continent during the land rush of Malas. In 2004, I soon found and purchased a more suitable 18x18 plot just outside the West Gate of Luna and it stands there to this day.

Selling crafted armor, weapons, but mostly furniture, it was my main source of income from the start. I later gave that up after my crafter (Special SixtyNyn) was paged on for having an offensive name by another player. After all that, it only took a single person by the name of Lady Reba to be "extremely offended" by my name on a Sunday afternoon while vendor shopping. A crafter without the name & reputation they've built upon is no crafter at all. I gave up seriously maintaining the House of Furniture and that was the end of that... But maybe it was time to move on? Due to inflation and a lack of newer players, selling furniture has become more of a hobby than a serious source of income.

Today it now serves as a museum of treasures I've stolen and looted from other players. These treasures are the same that I've stolen through the years in "The Mis-adventures of Chad Sexington." Some of the treasures I sell (occassionally back to the player I stole it from) but many of them I keep and put on display. These treasures include power scrolls, weapons, armor, jewelry, books of truth, scrolls of alacrity, blackrock, talismen, 10th anniversary items, boats, tokuno major artifacts, and cursed & non-cursed artifacts.

The best part about this museum and the items inside are the stories behind each of the items -- captured in screenshot form.

The museum is still growing.

The vendors in the hooded robes on the outside of the house sell jewelry, weapons, and armor. I still sell furniture (for sentimental reasons) on the vendors indoors... but the rate in which I re-stock them is suspect. The 3rd floor has a public library which includes public rune books as well as player written books.

This vendor house / museum (formerly named the "House of Furniture") has found itself in many different locations, but it's always been run by me. It was established in 1998 as a small marble workshop in the fields of North Minoc. In 2003, it later moved to a 15x13 on the Crumbling Continent during the land rush of Malas. In 2004, I soon found and purchased a more suitable 18x18 plot just outside the West Gate of Luna and it stands there to this day.

Selling crafted armor, weapons, but mostly furniture, it was my main source of income from the start.
