Ultima Online: New Legacy, also known as UO:NL, is a venture into recapturing a more classic Ultima Online experience. This game mode caters to RPG fans and UO veterans with seasonal content that can be taken back to the production shards.
Seasons
Season 1 launched on October 15, 2024, coinciding with the 27th Anniversary of Ultima Online. The Shattering began in the late summer of 2025 and concluded in October of 2025.
Alpha / Beta testing
A select group of players was given access to alpha testing. Broadsword had stated that beta would begin in summer 2024.
Legacy System
The Legacy System serves as the engine through which players craft the narrative of their avatar's journey within the realm of Britannia. Picture it akin to composing a memoir; however, instead of recounting events through written words after they've passed, players immerse themselves in these experiences in real-time within the world, leaving a lasting mark for generations to witness.
Through the Legacy System, players have the opportunity to:
- Earn Special Commendations and Medals: Acts of Virtue are duly recognized, rewarding players with special commendations and medals.
- Become the Subject of Epic Tales: Deeds may become the stuff of epic tales, chronicled in libraries throughout the realm for all to read and admire.
- Be Memorialized as a True Britannian Hero: Bravery and valor can lead to immortalization through statues, paintings, and busts, ensuring players' legacy as a true hero of Britannia.
- Build a Family Name: Forge a family name that will endure for future generations of a player's avatar, leaving a legacy that will be preserved and celebrated.
With the Legacy System, the possibilities are vast and immersive, offering a unique way to shape the story of players' avatars and leave a lasting impact on the world of Britannia.
