Description

The city of Umbra is the land of the Necromancers and those that practice the art of controlling the dead. On the Catskills shard, the city of Umbra has been the focus of many events that have tied into main arcs. It has also have several claimants and known residents. Currently the city is the main territory of The Children of Darkness guild both in character and physically as they retain most of the real estate in the surrounding areas.

The Great Burning of Umbra

This storyline precedes the claiming of the city by the Children of Darkness. The horrors that the city suffered at the hands of LICH, who enslaved its people and turned many of them into undead, sacrificing hundreds to their rituals, left Umbra is complete ruins after burning it to the ground. The place was deserted and no one dared to visit. Known as the City of the Dead by many, it was our endeavor to rid the the land of the notion that all undead are inherently evil. For the people, we found, did not wish to engage in evil practices despite the afflictions that had been forced upon them. It is our belief that Necromancy is just a magical spell line, no different than any other. It is in the wielder of the magic that evil lies, not the chosen magic that is used.
