UO holds various sorts of metal, the most common ones can be mined using the Mining profession using a Shovel or Pickaxe. Doing so produces Ore which can be smelted into Ingots at a forge, or at a Fire Beetle.

At 100 Skill you are able to occasionally find rare Gems, these can be used to make magical items.
