Kingdom Reborn
Shard: Oceania

A user of the (somewhat underpopulated) Oceania shard for roughly two years, I typically use the original 2D client (though I also have Kingdom Reborn installed and (usually) kept up to date). As a general rule I use Human characters, as their "jack of all trades" bonus really does provide some level of reliability in any given situation (and because they can carry more gold then their Elven equivalents).

I started out with a Swordsman.

After the first year I thought I was reasonably "powerful". I had a 50% chance of surviving against a Paragon Demon even! At this point, however, I discovered that LRC can be used to reduce reagent costs to nothing and so I began training a tamer mage...

For those interested in creating such a character, start with as much Animal Taming and Veterinary skill as possible. They are painfully slow to train from scratch. I learnt this lesson the hard way.

Magery (and it's related skills), on the other hand, can be picked up fairly easily by equipping a skill reducing Wand. It was this skill I capped out first.

Returning to the demon nest, I experimented with some summoning spells and found that what were once difficult battles were now simply a formality: Being able to sit behind my minions while throwing in the odd healing spell meant that my character's well being was no longer an issue.

Upon finally reaching the skill levels required to tame a Nightmare (with heavy use of Jewelry I admit), I returned once again and found that I could now easily take on multiple even paragon demons with an untrained mare at my command.

Since then I have stuck with my tamer, now able to venture where ever he should wish - Usually with my trusty Cu Sidhe in tow (a slow yet reliable combat steed). My current goal is to achieve a Paragon Chest from an Ancient Wyrm (the demons now being considered more as amusing scenery then as an actual challenge).

Although Bomb Bloke is the username I stick with in my various online haunts, as a UO character he now rarely ventures forth...
