Volunteer shard
The Volunteer shard was a shard and had similar features of the modern Test Center shard. It's primary purpose was ostensibly to train UO Support staff and volunteers and was more of a test bed. Since it was not considered a permanent production shard, buildings and items could be modified, deleted, etc. at anytime. Due to the anticipated low population, it was given much lighter resources than a regular production shard.
It was opened October 22, 1999 and remained open until sometime in late 2001.
