Patch Notes

We would like to make you aware of a sequence of updates and patches about to begin today, September 1, 1999. The items currently listed in In Testing require slightly different patching processes. The majority of these can be accomplished via a simple mini-update. This mini-update will take effect as the shards come back from their next daily maintenance. Late this evening, Latest Game Updates will reflect exactly those items included in this mini-update.

A small percentage of these features from In Testing, such as the arm/disarm macro fix, require a more elaborate client patch. This patching process will begin on Thursday, September 2, 1999, at approximately 6:00am CDT. At this time players will lose connection to the shards, although the shards themselves will remain running. In order to protect your character from any consequences associated with this disconnection, it is important to log out in a safe place before 6:00am CDT.

After approximately 30 minutes, we expect that the patch will be in place. At approximately 6:30am CDT, you should be able to return to the game. However, before you can log back into the shards, you will have to reload the UO client in order to receive this latest patch. Without it, you cannot enter Britannia. Latest Game Updates will be updated to reflect the changes that are in this client patch.

This client patch will address the following issues:

  • You will no longer automatically take a step forward after logging onto a shard.
  • Manually targeting yourself will not set you as the Last Target.
  • The arm/disarm macro for the right arm will now work properly. You will be able to rearm after using an item (such as a potion or door).
  • Players with older clients (non T2A) will now have the new style options menu.
  • Deleting the messenger.log file from your UO directory will stop the Ultima Messenger from logging all of your messages.
