PLAYER LUNCHEONS

The community created within Ultima Online isn't restricted to staying there. Around the globe, groups of UO players are getting together for luncheons, where they can chat and get to know each other, finally face to face. Here we will be listing player luncheons and events as they come up.

September 25th UO Gathering at Northern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire Greetings!

Forgive the late notice, but what was initially put together by a Sonoma Guild seems to be growing legs, and they would like to include any other players who are able to attend.

WHEN: Saturday, September 25th. Meet in front of the ticket windows no later than 9:30 Pacific, if possible.

WHERE: Northern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire at the Nut Tree, Vacaville, off of I-80 (link with map to follow)

WHAT: A chance to meet other UO players within the atmosphere of 16th century England. The initial entrance fee covers continuous entertainment from 10:00am to 6:00pm, when the faire closes. Full-contact jousting tournaments, staged plays, roving jesters, Salty Seadogs, ribald revelry, puppet shows, belly dancers (don?t ask), bawdy songs and sweet ballads, swashing and buckling...something for every taste. :-)

HOW MUCH: The normal price for an adult ticket is $17.50. I am a vendor there howver, and as such I?m permitted unlimited purchase of discount tickets for $12.50 each. So, if you show up at the ticket windows BEFORE opening (i.e, 9 to 9:30am or so) and look for me, I can obtain a discounted ticket for you, at a savings of $5.00. I?ll post a link with my picture from last year?s faire, so you?ll know whom to look for and bug. :-)

WHAT TO BRING: Food on the premises is most delicious---and very pricey. I recommend bringing your own, so that if you?re smitten with overwhelming desire for some bauble while you?re there, you?ll have the means to purchase it. (There are ATMs available as well) Bottled water is a good staple, too. FILM! Bring your cameras and LOTS of film! Costuming is not required, but I think you?ll find a lot more...uh...opportunities..if you are costumed. *winks*The only prohibitions on items brought into the faire are: No glass containers, no unsecured weapons, and no live pets. (I dunno about dead ones)

FOR THOSE WITH CHILDREN: There are TONS of things for children to do at faire, including a Treasure Map with a free prize at the end. Most of the kid?s activities are free. My 7 year old daughter has attended every day since opening, and she?s still not bored. A great place for kids. :-)

WHAT TO LOOK FOR: If you manage to miss me before opening, try to find my booth. (it?s small) It's "Eggwife's Dowrie', right next to the Maypole, just west of the Washerwomen, in front of The Chocolate Maker's, close to the Military Camp, at the beginning of Cook's Row, and east of Ben Jonson Stage. Also near Ale Stand 2 I?ve arranged to take the day off, but intend for the booth to be used as a message center for the day, and will be checking back there often. Just bug Lyle, my booth manager. He'll love it. *grins* BTW, ask for Guillian, as they do not know me as Dor. :-)

A links page, for those interested...it has about 100 Ren Faire-related links, covering everything from mead-making to armor to language to costumes to performers, etc., etc...(Mine is even on there!) Check it out at:

That's all that I can think of for now...thanks for your time. If you?ve any questions, email me at: guillian@neteze.com, and I?ll try to answer them. Hope to see you there!

Baltimore/Washington Player Gathering

At about 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 2nd we will gather at John H Downs park. This is a lovely park situated right on the Chesapeake Bay roughly halfway between Annapolis and Baltimore. The cost for this part of the gathering will be $15 per person, to include parking, food, and drinks.

Directions to the park, travel and lodging information, and instructions for signing up can be found at. After the outdoor gathering, we will probably descend on Annapolis. It is a fine town for an evening out, and we?re sure to make the most of it. Also, we should point out, again, that although this is being run by us folks from Chesapeake, all are welcome to attend! In fact, we already know that people from Atlantic, Catskills, Pacific, Great Lakes, and more are very interested in coming.

In short, then, we hope this will be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, day, or even whole weekend for all of us in the area who share this common bond. We hope to see you all there!

Sincerely,
Lady Morgaine
Marilla

October 10th at the Texas Renaissance Festival

Time for the Second Annual Austin UO Player's Lunch at the Texas Renaissance Festival!! We will meet in the Italian Village at 1pm, Sunday, October 10th, 1999. The cost will be $40, which includes discounted tickets to the RenFest, and all-you-care-to-eat Feast. Payment must be received by Friday, September 24th to reserve your tickets. If you miss the deadline, you may still attend, but will have to pay full price tickets at the front gate, and will not be able to partake of the feast. Absolutely no reservations can be taken after Sep 24th. Please see the UOLunch Webpage for more info and pictures of last years event.

We had over 130 people last year and we expect an even larger group this time. Expect to meet several player celebrities, as well as members of the OSI team. There will be prizes for participants, especially those who come in costume! This is the second time we are holding this event, and we expect it to run much smoother this year. Everyone that I have talked to had a really great time last year, and many are planning to attend again this yearl. Bring your friends and family, the RenFest is quite an event in itself, and to spend it with other addicts, err, players is all the more fun! To receive updates by email, join the UOLunch Mailing List or contact us by emailing us at uolunch@sss.org.

See you there!!
