Sakura is a Japanese shard and is named after the cherry blossom, the national flower of Japan.
Sakura opened to Japanese-region only players on October 21, 2002 and was the 26th shard worldwide and the 8th one in Asia. It experienced several problems with overload, most notably several interruptions where houses could not be placed or transferred. Sakura was opened to all players worldwide on December 19, 2002.
