Patch Notes

We are targeting to release a patch this afternoon at 2:00 PM CST to synchronize the current version number with the Age of Shadows code. It’s important to note that once this patch has been released, you will need to be patched up to the current version before you will be able to log in. Also note that once you have received this patch, you will need to completely shut down and restart your Ultima Online client before you will be able to reconnect to the game.

If you are encountering any difficulty with patching, please first try the following:

  • Delete all files in the "patch" subdirectory of your UO installation.
  • Close ALL programs that are running in the background, including any virus scanners or internet security/firewall software.
  • Run UO again.

If the above steps don’t enable your machine to patch, you can try the following:

  • Windows XP has a built-in firewall that may need to be disabled to successfully patch. Click here for detailed instructions on how to accomplish this.
  • Bad memory (RAM) can also cause patching problems. You can download and use the SANDRA utility to test your computer memory.
  • If you’re using internet firewall software such as ZoneAlarm or Black Ice Defender, it may also be necessary to reset the permissions settings of that software for the updated Ultima Online CLIENT.EXE or UOTD.EXE file after patching.
  • And last but not least – if none of the above steps have solved the problem, you may need to uninstall and reinstall before your game will successfully patch.

If you have tried everything above and are still encountering difficulty patching, please click here for the Technical Support section of our Game Wizard. You can find answers to many common problems there, or you can use the "Ask a Question" tab to send your question directly to our support team.
