Herding is often used by many stealth tamers to lure spawn away from a group, or simply have a critter follow you while taming. It is also used by stealthers in pvp to lure blocking animals, trapping a defender. Although not a popular skill, it is not "useless." Meridus 21:52, 29 July 2008 (PDT)

I dunno, it sounds pretty useless to me. :S

But then, I don't really know how it works. So! Questions:

Will the same amount of skill allow you to herd any creature, or do you need more for certain creatures? No way I'd spend precious skill points just to be able to lead creatures, I can do that already by targeting them in combat mode then running away. It seems Peacemaking or Honor would be far more effective then even my own method of frequent castings of Invisibility.

Regarding "blocking animals", it's uncommon that you'll be fighting next to creatures that the combatants couldn't easily kill off. An exception might be champion spawns, but those have monsters appearing so quickly that sending in more seems redundant.

Does herding prevent the monster from attacking you or others?
