Dragon Nest Maps

Dragon Nest Map originally a map from the dynamic event The Draconic Awakening but was extended to Caldur's Watch in Publish 122.

Dragon Nest Map

Obtaining Currently, during Caldur's Watch from Publish 122, the Maps can be found as drops from the corpse of any Dragon mob, in the cargo hold of High Seas ships or fished up MIB/SOS containers.

Previously, during the Draconic Awakening event, the maps were found from hidden chests or rewards vendor for the Draconic Invasions.

There are six variations:

Difficulty Name
1 Fledgling Dragon Nest
2 Lesser Dragon Nest
3 Greater Dragon Nest
4 Grand Dragon Nest
5 Massive Dragon Nest
6 Super Massive Dragon Nest

Deciphering

Although Dragon Nest Maps are very similar to normal Treasure Maps they do not require any special skills to read the map or find the map.

The maps can be deciphered using A Decryption Cypher, which is crafted by Cartographers.

This means any character can read and find a nest using just the Decryption Cypher and a shovel.

Finding the Nest

As with normal Treasure maps, to attempt to dig up a nest, double-click on a shovel (or pickaxe), then target the map you want to dig, then target the spot you wish to dig. Alternatively, use the context menu on the map and choose the 'dig treasure' option.

Luck

Luck is taken from the person who digs up the chest.

Kyronix Quote: "The luck is pulled from the player who digs up the chest at the time the chest is created, which is when they begin the digging process successfully. The same applies to cartography. The quality of the chest is based on the quality as a function of the digger's Cartography skill the first time the chest is successfully dug up. If you decide to force the chest to be redug (i.e. move) the quality will never be better than the first pull, but can be worse if your cartography skill is lower than the first successful attempt."

Guardians

A variety of reptile/dragon mobs will spawn once the nest has been completely revealed. The higher difficulty the more mobs will spawn as guardians.

An Umbrascale Ascendant is a new mob that is tamable.

Broodmother

The Super Massive nests also include the Broodmother guardian, which is considered a mini-boss.

Designed to be done with a group, these extremely dangerous dragon nests offer a greater challenge for a greater reward.
Each Super Massive Dragon Nest will draw the ire of a Broodmother, who will descend upon the nest to defend it.
Defeat the Broodmother for a chance to receive special items directly on her corpse:

Turn in the Broodmother's Skull at Caldur's Watch for extra currency and special recognition.

Loot

Defeat all the nest guardians to plunder the contents of the nest itself:

Nests can include the following:

  • Gems
  • Gold
  • Refinements
  • a piece of Wyrmscale Armor
  • a Page of Lore
  • a Void Fragment
  • a large quantity of Umbrascales
  • a Dragon Nest Map
  • several pieces of collectible equipment sets
  • Umbrascale Dragon Eggs

Specialty Loot

  • Mature Umbrascale Dragon Egg - Greatly increased chance with Super Massive Nests
    • A new classification of Dragon Egg, Priceless, can appear in Massive and Super Massive dragon nests

The Dragon Matriarch

The Dragon Matriarch will appear once enough of the Dragon Nests have been burned.

Barks

The following information can be found at Caldur's Watch on the front bulletin board. These barks indicate how far along the next spawning of the Matriarch is.

  • The skies remain still, but the scent of scorched earth lingers faintly on the wind.
  • Whispers echo from forgotten caves...something ancient stirs beneath the ash
  • Distant roars echo across the mountains. Scorched skies foretell the return of something vast.
  • The skies blacken and crackle with flame...Something massive draws near
  • From the ashes of the fallen, she rises. All shall burn beneath her gaze.
  • A vast shadow spreads as wings blot out the sun...the Umbrascale Matriarch descends upon (coordinates)
