Dragon Armor

Dragon Armor.png

Most players consider Dragon Armor of limited use. Forged from the scales of the strongest lizards, it is impressive. It is equal to platemail armor in base resistances and bonus resistances when a piece is exceptionally crafted, but total material bonuses are less than valorite and verite. Additionally, scales are acquired from monsters, so they are more difficult to obtain than ingots, and crafting requires quite a few scales since the success chance is considerably lower than platemail.

Depending on the scale color, except for yellow, a piece of dragon armor will be very high in one resist and very low in another. (This is in addition to exceptionally crafted bonuses.) The use of those resist extremes is little known and almost never used. When the rest of a metal suit is very low and/or very high in certain resists, the right piece of dragon armor can help give balance, especially when any resist on dragon armor, even one that's negative, can be imbued to a maximum of 18. For example, if the other pieces are collectively low in fire resist and high in cold resist, then a blacksmith can make several pieces of red dragon armor until one is extremely high in fire (it is not unusual to get 20), and then cold resist can be imbued to compensate.

Base Properties

All types of armor in a given set come with the same basic resists. For example, a platemail gorget provides exactly the same level of protection as a platemail tunic. Armor that is exceptionally crafted will receive a bonus that is further boosted by your character's Arms Lore skill, while Runic Tools, Imbuing or Runic Re-Forging can be used to send the total resistance level far higher than reachable by crafting, and also to add additional Item Properties.

Some forms of armor are "medable", meaning they do not affect your use of the meditation skill when worn. Elven armor can only be worn by elves.

Individual Properties

Dragon Armor is crafted by blacksmiths, and cannot be recycled. To create it your character must be standing near an anvil and forge.

Parts retain the color of the material from which they are made. Crafted (and not yet imbued) versions can have their durability increased, via Powder of Fortifying, to a maximum of 255 and can be dyed with Pigments of Tokuno. If crafted exceptionally by a GM+ crafter they can hold their maker's mark.
