This guide is useful for training the Fencing, Mace Fighting, Swordsmanship and Wrestling skills.
Method 1
- 0-25 skill - Use an archery butte or Training Dummy
- 25-35 skill - Attack Brigands found on Barrier Isle
- 35-50 skill - Attack Skeletons found in the Britain Graveyard
- 50-70 skill - Attack Ettins found in Despise
- 70-80 skill - Attack Earth Elementals found in Shame
- 80-100 skill - Attack Solen Warriors found in Solen Hives
Method one is a more casual training regime. It lets you get comfortable with playing a warrior in general, with use of your auxiliary skills such as Chivalry, Bushido, etc. You also get lots of gold and magic items from looting.
Alternative
- 0-25 skill - Use an archery butte or Training Dummy
- 25-40 skill - Attack Brigands found on Barrier Isle
- 40-60 skill - Skeletons, preferably 1-3 at a time these can be found in any graveyard
- 60-70 skill - Lizardmen such as you'd find in the top level of Despise
- 70-85 skill - Ogres, again in Despise but at lowest level this time (avoid the Ogre Lords)
- 85-100 skill - Earth Elementals found in Shame or Despise level 2
- 100-110 skill - Cyclopean Warriors found in Cyclops Valley in the Lost Lands and Despise level 3
- 110-120 skill - Troglodytes found in the Painted Caves - parry helps since the spawn rate is rather high. However, they do drop bandages so having enough for healing is never an issue. 400+ gold loot is a nice bonus.
This method slightly better scales your skill level to your opponents, you'll take less damage, have to repair less armour and you should gain a bit faster. The figures are all approximate but you'll know when you've just about topped out with any given monster type as your gains will slow considerably.
New Haven Method
- 0-40 skill - Train at the New Haven Combat Academy. (picking up the training quest will greatly improve your gains)
- 40-55 skill - Attack Zombies, Skeletons, and Spectral Spellbinders in Old Haven.
- 55-70 skill - Attack Ettins found South of New Haven (near the mountains, quick spawn)
- 70-100 skill - Attack Earth Elementals found in the New Haven Dungeon (quick spawn)
This method works very well on all production shards (not available on SP ruleset shards). You can take your character very far without ever leaving Haven Island. After you reach 100 it is up to you if you want to continue in New Haven's dungeon by going after Ogre Lords, or if you finally want to get off this island and play the game!
Method 2
- 40-120 skill - Attack a pet Wolf Spider or Arctic Ogre Lord
You'll require 59.1 Animal Taming and Animal Lore to control a Wolf Spider (you can purchase up to around 30 of each from an NPC then use jewelry/items such as Mark of Travesty with taming/lore and Library Talisman with taming/lore
Alternatively with 52.0 skill Spellweaving you can cast Dryad Allure to control an Arctic Ogre Lord
This method is a little bit of a trick, but is allowed. You will not get in trouble for using this trick. You can often see players using this outside of Luna. This method of training requires a few setup procedures.
- Acquire a 100% poison weapon in your chosen skill (or one with use best weapon skill), Make sure that the weapon you get does not have any hit spell on it. If it does, it will make this method unfeasible.
- Acquire a set of +20 (or greater) jewelry in your melee skill of choice. Your goal with this is that when you put on the jewelry, your skill should be between 10 and 20 points lower than the Wrestling on the creature at all times. This is to maximize gains. At 40-70 skill you will likely have to use jewelry to boost your fighting skill into the proper range. You can use a Crystal Ball of Knowledge to verify that you're within the correct range.
- Join a guild if you are not in one already. You can also start your own which is not very costly.
Now that you have completed those three tasks, here's what you do:
- Grab your pet and stand someplace. The popular place for this training is outside the Luna bank.
- Equip your weapon and jewelry. Remember your skill should be no farther than 20 below the creature's wrestling.
- Say "all guard me". This will make your creature highlight green to you.
- Say "all stop". This will make the creature stop guarding you, with new pet commands you say "all follow me" and creature never attacks you and will always follow you.
- Attack the creature.
You may have to go through steps 3-5 several times before it works right. If you keep getting hit, just keep using the 'all stop' command.
As your skill increases you should remove the skill enhancement jewelry as needed. Eventually you will surpass the creature's skill. This is okay because as long as you are 20 points below or above your opponents fighting skill, you can gain your own.
It would be advantageous to use a suit/weapon that achieves maximum Swing Speed
Note: While this method can be fully automated, it is important not to train unattended. You will be taken to jail if a Gamemaster determines you are not paying attention.
Method 3
Follow Previous Methods of getting to 50.
- 50-120 skill - Attack Ratmens found in Stygian Abyss Dungeon
This is a fast and sometimes safe way to level any weapon skill. You can also work Ninjitsu, Chivalry, Bushido, etc. You also get lots of gold and magic items from looting. - Unloved Sonoma
This method can be limited by the level of champion spawn and is not recommended for new characters as it requires entrance into the Stygian Abyss Dungeon.
