A blessed item is one which will reappear in its owner's backpack upon resurrection. They may not be stolen.

Notes

Items with the blessed property will:

Stay in your backpack when you die
Be placed into the character's backpack upon resurrection if equipped before death
Cannot be stolen by using the stealing skill
Cannot be insured
Bug: Since the Age of Shadows expansion, there is an extremely rare and not understood condition which can allow blessed and insured items to fall to your corpse.
Bug: Blessed items are not auto-equipped when EZ Looting your corpse
