Corgul the soulbinder.png

Corgul the Soulbinder is one of two boss-level monsters introduced with the High Seas expansion and is found on a floating island. He was the second monster revealed with the High Seas expansion.

Corgul appears as a black Titan in the Classic Client but has his own unique graphic in the Enhanced client. Corgul hits heavily with both melee and spells. Corgul the Soulbinder has a corrupted life aura similar to Osiredon the Scalis Enforcer which will cause life leech item options/skill(i.e Vampiric Embrace) to work in the opposite way. Players will experience life decrease rather than the healing effect that would be expected. Mana and Stamina leech work as normal. Corgul is bound to his original position on the island and will intermittently return to that position.

When first approaching the island, Corgul will be found in the cobblestone center of the isle, while 6 groups of ~16 Soulbound are stationed around the island. The initial 6 groups will always appear in the same locations: N, NW, SW, CenterSouth, S, E.

Three to Five (it's almost always 5) additional groups of ~16 Soulbound will spawn in random locations around the island after Corgul has been injured. It is possible to initiate combat with Corgul, damage him, then retreat and hide, spawning the first group of additional Soulbound. The remaining groups will spawn over short intervals. Alternatively, eliminate the first group of additional Soulbound and the second group will immediately spawn, eliminate the 2nd group and the 3rd group will immediately spawn, etc.

Corgul appears to take less damage for each Soulbound alive, to the point where he is almost impervious to damage if 6 or more Soulbound groups are present. Once all the Soulbound are dead, Corgul is a tough, but straightforward opponent. Due to these spawn mechanics, it is in your best interest to kill all the Soulbound before trying to defeat Corgul.

Tips

Corgul is vulnerable to Repond Slayer but is also a Necromancer, so watch out for Blood Oath.

Corgul will animate dead, so keep him away from the dead Soulbound. Be careful fighting Corgul and the additional Soulbound groups simultaneously, as these additional groups can spawn near Corgul. If you are careless, you may end up fighting Corgul, additional Soulbound, and Undead!

Corgul has the vortex ability and will pull all ranged opponents to him (including tamers/mages with pets/summons).

Corgul has a long range area effect attack.

If encountering Corgul in Trammel, Soulbound and Corgul will drop 0.1 to 0.5 Scrolls of Transcendence.
If encountering Corgul in Felucca, Soulbound and Corgul will drop 0.6 to 1.0 Scrolls of Transcendence.

Locating

The sacrificial brazier
Island of the Soulbinder

Corgul resides on a mysterious moving island. To reach him, you must first go to the exit of the second level of dungeon Covetous and sacrifice a used or unused Treasure Map as well as a World Map (NPC bought or player-crafted). Upon sacrificing the items, a new map will be placed in your backpack with the location of the Island of the Soulbinder where Corgul roams. Your hit points will also be reduced to 1 as a blood cost. Be careful not to die to any monsters before you can heal up. All party members must have the High Seas expansion and the party must approach the island on one of the High Seas boat types or the island will not be accessible.

Take the map and get on a ship. You can either sail to the location manually or drop the map on a tillerman, say "start" and he will sail the ship for you.

After you reach the destination, move further forward to reach to a remote island. Corgul the Soulbinder is waiting here guarded by:

Sometimes Corgul does not appear on his island or disappears during combat. There appears to be no way to re-summon Corgul once he has disappeared. To make sure Corgul is always available:

  • Ignore World Maps that start with less than 2000 seconds on the timer. Just spawn a new map instead.
  • Crossing server boundaries is possible, but if the World Map refreshes (closes and opens) Corgul will sometimes not be on his island.
  • If you leave the island zone with the World Map, Corgul may disappear.
  • Once opened, never close the World Map showing Corgul's location. Even after engaging Corgul in combat, closing the World Map can cause him to disappear the next time he teleports to his starting location.
