Publish 124 was the third publish of 2026 and included a new yearly seasonal events, Shardfall, Lady Melisande updates, new stealables, new Ultima Store items, new Anniversary gifts, Huntmaster's Challenge updates, Halloween updates, a new Hair Dye unlock system, and quality of life changes and bug fixes.

Shardfall

Overview

  • Shardfall is a new seasonal event where players celebrate the destruction of the Gem of Immortality and the defeat of Mondain The Wizard.
  • Donate supplies to cities to celebrate Shardfall with a massive Fireworks Celebration!
  • Battle the Echo of Mondain in a new instanced encounter to earn rewards!
  • Shardfall will occur every year, with the initial run beginning with Publish 124 World Wide.

Fireworks Celebration

  • Celebrate Shardfall by helping the cities of Britannia gather supplies for a massive Fireworks Celebration!
  • Each day players can donate Crates of Combustibles to the active city to make progress towards a city-wide fireworks display
  • Crates of Combustibles can be donated by dropping an item, or bag of items, directly onto the Pyrotechnician NPC in the active city
  • Crates of Combustibles can be obtained from killing any creature during the Shardfall event
  • Crates of Combustibles donated to the active city will reward players with Shardfall Currency as well as Honor virtue points
  • The active City rotates randomly each day
  • The currently active city will be announced by the Shardfall Herald at the Moonglow Lycaeum
  • If the previously active city received enough supplies, they will perform a fireworks display every hour, on the hour, for the entire day.
  • The size and duration of the fireworks display is dependent upon how many supplies were received

Echo of Mondain

  • The mages of the Lycaeum have recreated the likeness of Mondain the Wizard and have issued a challenge to the citizens of Britannia. Do you have what it takes to defeat Mondain?
  • Queue into this encounter with your party at the Moonglow Lycaeum
  • Battle the Echo of Mondain in an instanced encounter to earn special rewards
  • The encounter has two difficulty modes:
    • Normal Mode – A challenge for the casual player. Earn Singed Scrolls and a chance at unique rewards for defeating Mondain
    • Avatar Mode – Not for the faint of heart. An extremely difficult challenge that requires precise execution to succeed. Earn additional currency and rewards unique to Avatar Mode for defeating Mondain on this difficulty
      • Note: Avatar Mode is currently disabled for testing on TC1, Origin, Izumo, and Baja
  • This encounter scales in difficulty based on the number of players in the party
    • Avatar Mode does not scale – it is always at the max difficulty regardless of party size
  • Encounter Results are available after each attempt, which shows a breakdown of each party member's Damage Dealt, Damage Healed, and Damage Received
    • Encounter Results will display automatically after the encounter ends
    • The last recorded Encounter Results can be brought up on demand via the player context menu option for 'View Encounter Results'

New Stealables – Virtue Books

Hair Dye Unlock System

  • Unique Hair Dyes will now unlock on your character when you use them for the first time
  • You can swap to any unique hair dye your character has unlocked by visiting a Hairstylist NPC and using the "Unlocked Hair Dye" option
  • There is no limit to how many times you can swap your hair color with this system
  • Currently Hair Dyes that are acquired from Lady Melisande and the UO Store will unlock in this system
  • When Publish 124 goes live, if your character currently has a unique hair dye applied, that color will be unlocked automatically on that character

29th Anniversary Rewards

  • All veteran characters at least 30 days old will receive a 29th Anniversary Token & Anniversary Card
  • 29th Anniversary Tokens can be redeemed for:

Halloween

Active between October 1st and November 30th

  • Graveyard Skeletons
    • Acquire skeletons and skulls in a new hue for 2026
    • Rare chance for skeletons to drop new Skeletal Weapons on their corpse
      • Weapons are exceptional and bear the name of the fallen player it was wrought from
      • Skeletal Blade
        • 1-Handed Fencing Weapon, with Armor Ignore and Mortal Strike special moves
        • 2.25s Speed
        • 10-13 Base Damage
      • Skeletal Crossbow
        • 2-Handed Archery Weapon, with Armor Ignore and Moving Shot special moves
        • 4s Speed
        • 16-20 Base Damage
      • Skeletal Glaive
        • 1-Handed Throwing Weapon, with Armor Ignore and Moving Shot special moves

        • 16-20 Base Damage

Ultima Store Offerings

  • Waist Transmog Potion
    • This potion can be used to transmogrify waist-slot equipment
  • Elixir of Enduring Luck
    • Extends your current Luck buffs by 1 hour when consumed, up to a maximum duration of 3 hours.
    • Resets the cooldown on all Luck Statues when consumed.
    • Applies to both standard Luck Statues and other Luck buffs, such as the Clock of Fortuitous Flame.
  • True Britannian Horse
    • This anniversary a limited edition unique pet will be available in the Ultima Store.
  • Seasonal Offerings
    • Look for new limited edition seasonal offerings coming to the store throughout the year!

Runebook and Runic Atlas Updates

  • Runebooks and Runic Atlases now support renaming and re-ordering runes without needing to remove them first
    • Runebook (Classic Client): Toggle 'Organize' mode in the runebook, then click on a rune to adjust it.
    • Runebook (Enhanced Client): Click on a rune to adjust it.
    • Runic Atlas (All Clients): Click on a rune to adjust it.
    • Adjustments:
      • Move Up / Up: Moves the selected rune up in the list
      • Move Down / Down: Moves the selected rune down in the list
      • Rename Rune: Renames the selected rune
    • Runebooks cannot be organized while locked down
  • Resolved an issue which could cause players to fail to recall or appear on the wrong facet when targeting a runebook after recalling to a boat
  • Resolve an issue that would cause the Runic Atlas to require reagents when recalling to a ship rune with a recall charge
  • Resolved an issue that would sometimes cause the Runic Atlas text colors in the EC to become illegible
    • The Runic Atlas now has identical text colors in both the CC and EC

Bug Fixes & Misc Changes

  • Luck Statues will now display buff icons when activated
  • Potion of Glorious Fortune now has a visible buff icon in the Enhanced Client
  • Pets with the Magery Mastery Magical Ability will no longer cast beneficial spells on their targets
  • Pets with Magery will no longer cast the Protection spell
  • Pumpkin Rowboats can now be deployed in deep water locations
  • The Moon-Touched Fishing Pole will no longer have uses on the Siege Perilous or Mugen shards
    • This change will apply retroactively

TC1 Publish 2 Notes

Echo of Mondain Encounter

  • There is now a 10 second grace period after all members of the encounter have died before you are exited from the Arena, allowing you time for last-minute self-resurrections
  • You can now teleport near the edges of the arena
  • You can no longer recall out of the arena
    • Use the 'Exit Encounter' context menu option on yourself if you wish to leave the encounter early
  • When Mondain is defeated, an Ankh will now appear in the arena allowing you to quickly res your party if needed
  • You will now receive Shardfall points for defeating Mondain, in addition to the Singed Scrolls and Rewards Bag
    • Normal Mode: 200 Points
    • Avatar Mode: 1000 Points
  • You will now receive more Singed Scrolls for defeating Mondain
  • The overall difficulty of Mondain has been adjusted
    • Base HP reduced, but group scaling increased slightly. Overall he should be slightly easier to kill for Solo/Duo players and about the same for larger groups.
    • Enraged Fire Walls (phase 2) now have a short delay before the next wave comes in
    • Frequency of Energy Bombs in phase 2 has been slightly reduced
  • The end-of-battle report will now indicate whether the results were for Normal Mode or Avatar Mode
  • The timer for re-queuing into the encounter has been reduced

Shardfall

  • Increased drop chance of Crates of Combustibles
  • Increased value of Crates of Combustibles

Misc Changes

  • The new Virtue Books now have security settings when locked down

WW Release Notes

Echo of Mondain Encounter

  • There is now a leaderboard at the Lycaeum that will track the best kill times per party size for both Normal and Avatar difficulty.
  • The Echo of Mondain should no longer die prematurely.
  • Avatar difficulty will be available beginning Wednesday, August 26th, following each shard’s maintenance cycle.

Shardfall

  • The Mages of the Lycaeum rejoice as there is now a trashcan in the Lycaeum courtyard.
  • Not all are thrilled about the re-creation of Mondain’s likeness. Several citizens have reported a Fanatic in the area trying to get their attention.
